Thanks for visiting! Photography has been a life-long passion for me. Although I concentrate on multiple electronic media projects for both personal and commercial purposes, I find that the simplicity and directness of the still image informs much of my work. I will always return to it as a source of inspiration.

Specifically, I love spontaneous photography styles best. Street photographers and photojournalists, including portrait photographers, can provide a static frame to hidden world for the viewer. To this photographer, the world is naturally artful and overflows with evocative visual stories waiting to be discovered.

One example is found in the journalists who have been recording the recent war in Iraq. We've all seen dramatic moving images in video that show perhaps too much. The level of information and "noise" is high. The still photographs, however, can obtain a heightened realism or directness of an event frozen in time that would otherwise quickly disappear in a moment beneath the motion camera's eye.

Of course, as with any medium, there are many directions the spontaneous photographer can take. Visit the Links page for information about other photographers as well as a few valuable photo resources.

Photography also presents an element of nostalgia for most folks. The photograph comes from an earlier time that was perhaps slower or at least less saturated with the constantly moving images of today. We also can relate better to the still image since we have been shooting and developing images of our friends and families for decades. It's a trusty medium long adopted by children and grandparents alike.

Shooting pictures has long been a down-home DIY (Do-It-Yourself) media. With the advent of digital imaging, I doubt still photography will be leaving us anytime soon.

Happy shooting,
